Docs Connect Codex
Connect Codex
OpenAI Codex can use CADMCP.AI as a remote MCP server. You add it with one command and sign in with your CADMCP.AI account in the browser.
Add the connector
The connector URL:
https://mcp.cadmcp.ai/mcpAvailable at launchIn a terminal where Codex is installed, run:
codex mcp add cadmcp --url https://mcp.cadmcp.ai/mcp
codex mcp login cadmcp
The second command opens a CADMCP.AI sign-in page in your browser. Sign in, read what Codex is asking to do, and allow it. Codex keeps the sign-in for you.
Or edit the configuration file
Codex reads its MCP servers from its configuration file (config.toml in your Codex folder). The same connector looks like this:
[mcp_servers.cadmcp]
url = "https://mcp.cadmcp.ai/mcp"
Then run codex mcp login cadmcp to sign in.
Use it
Ask Codex: Use CADMCP.AI to list what it can do.
To work on a model, your computer also needs the agent running and your CAD program open; see Install the agent.
Time limits and approvals
Codex stops waiting for a tool after a time limit. A change request does not need you to approve within that limit: the request goes onto the approval card in your CAD program and Codex is told it is waiting. Approve it when you are ready, then ask Codex to check the result.
Remove the connector
codex mcp logout cadmcp
codex mcp remove cadmcp
