Connectors Revit

Revit connector

  • Planned
  • Revit API (.NET)

Building model queries, parameter work, schedules and sheets through the Revit API. With CADMCP.AI you would ask for this work in plain words from Claude or Codex, and every change would wait for a person’s approval.

  • Your AI app
  • CADMCP.AI server
  • Agent on your computer
  • Revit API (.NET)
  • A person approves
  • Revit

Status: planned. The Revit connector is not built yet; SOLIDWORKS comes first. This page describes what the Revit connector is designed to do, so you can tell us whether it fits your work. Nothing on it has been tested with Revit.

01 / What you could ask

Examples of requests

The kind of work this connector is for. You would write your own the same way: say what you want, with sizes and names.

  • List every door on Level 2 that has no Fire Rating value.
  • Set the Comments parameter of all selected walls to Phase 2.
  • Create a sheet for each floor plan and place the plan on it.
  • Make a schedule of rooms with their area and finish.
02 / What it is designed for

The tasks it should cover

  • Find elements by category, family, type or parameter value
  • Read and fill in parameters across many elements
  • Build schedules and check them for missing data
  • Place and change elements such as walls, doors and family instances
  • Create views and sheets, and place views on sheets
  • Run model checks and export, for example to IFC or DWG

What any connector can do depends on the program, its version and your licence. We will publish what the Revit connector really does when it is ready, and not before.

HOW IT CONNECTS

Revit API (.NET)

The Revit connector is planned to work through the Revit API, the .NET interface Revit add-ins use. Revit only accepts model changes inside a transaction, which fits our rule well: one approved request, one transaction.

The CADMCP.AI Agent runs on the Windows PC where Revit is installed, next to a small Revit add-in that shows each change for approval.

THE RULE EVERY CONNECTOR FOLLOWS

The AI proposes. A person approves. Then it runs.

Your AI app can read, measure and plan. Anything that would change your model becomes a request that shows the exact change. It runs only after a person approves it inside the CAD program, and you can always decline.

03 / What you bring

Your tools, your licences

  • Revit installed and licensed on your Windows PC
  • Your own AI app: Claude (Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) or OpenAI Codex. AI usage is billed to your own AI plan.
  • A CADMCP.AI account. Early access is free.

How the connection works

YOUR FILES

Your model stays yours

Your CAD files stay on your computer. Requests and tool results pass through our server on their way to your AI app, and we do not train AI models on them.
