Connectors AutoCAD
AutoCAD connector
- Planned
- AutoCAD .NET API and AutoLISP
Drawing work in DWG files: layers, blocks, attributes, dimensions, layouts and clean-up. With CADMCP.AI you would ask for this work in plain words from Claude or Codex, and every change would wait for a person’s approval.

- AutoCAD
Status: planned. The AutoCAD connector is not built yet; SOLIDWORKS comes first. This page describes what the AutoCAD connector is designed to do, so you can tell us whether it fits your work. Nothing on it has been tested with AutoCAD.
Examples of requests
The kind of work this connector is for. You would write your own the same way: say what you want, with sizes and names.
- Count every door block in this drawing and list their tag values in a table.
- Move all text on layer 0 to layer A-ANNO and set its height to 2.5 mm.
- Draw a 1200 by 800 mm rectangle with 50 mm fillets, starting at the origin.
- Set up an A3 layout at 1:50 using the title block that is already in this file.
The tasks it should cover
- Draw and edit lines, polylines, arcs, circles, hatches and text
- Create and tidy layers, linetypes, text styles and blocks with attributes
- Add dimensions and set up layouts and viewports for plotting
- Read a drawing into a table: block counts, attribute values, layer use
- Bring a drawing to your standard: rename layers, purge and audit
- Repeat the same change across a set of drawings
What any connector can do depends on the program, its version and your licence. We will publish what the AutoCAD connector really does when it is ready, and not before.
AutoCAD .NET API and AutoLISP
The AutoCAD connector is planned to work through AutoCAD's managed .NET API, the official interface AutoCAD add-ins use to read and change the drawing database, and through AutoLISP for the routines many teams already rely on.
The CADMCP.AI Agent runs on the Windows PC where AutoCAD is installed, next to a small AutoCAD add-in that shows each change for approval.
The AI proposes. A person approves. Then it runs.
Your AI app can read, measure and plan. Anything that would change your model becomes a request that shows the exact change. It runs only after a person approves it inside the CAD program, and you can always decline.
Your tools, your licences
- AutoCAD installed and licensed on your Windows PC
- Your own AI app: Claude (Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) or OpenAI Codex. AI usage is billed to your own AI plan.
- A CADMCP.AI account. Early access is free.
Your model stays yours
Your CAD files stay on your computer. Requests and tool results pass through our server on their way to your AI app, and we do not train AI models on them.
