Connectors Autodesk Inventor
Autodesk Inventor connector
- Planned
- Inventor API and iLogic parameters
Parametric parts, assemblies and drawings through Inventor's own automation interface. With CADMCP.AI you would ask for this work in plain words from Claude or Codex, and every change would wait for a person’s approval.
- Your AI app
- CADMCP.AI server
- Agent on your computer
- Inventor API and iLogic parameters
- A person approves
- Autodesk Inventor
Status: planned. The Autodesk Inventor connector is not built yet; SOLIDWORKS comes first. This page describes what the Autodesk Inventor connector is designed to do, so you can tell us whether it fits your work. Nothing on it has been tested with Autodesk Inventor.
Examples of requests
The kind of work this connector is for. You would write your own the same way: say what you want, with sizes and names.
- Set the Length parameter to 240 mm and tell me what else changes.
- Make a 6 mm thick plate, 120 by 80 mm, with four 8 mm holes 10 mm from each corner.
- List every part in this assembly with its material and mass.
- Fill in the Part Number and Description iProperties from the file names.
The tasks it should cover
- Sketch, extrude, revolve, add holes, fillets and patterns in a part
- Read and change user parameters and iProperties
- Place components and add constraints in an assembly
- Create drawing views and parts lists for review
- Export to STEP, DWG or PDF
- Report on a model: features, mass properties, materials
What any connector can do depends on the program, its version and your licence. We will publish what the Autodesk Inventor connector really does when it is ready, and not before.
Inventor API and iLogic parameters
The Inventor connector is planned to work through the Inventor API, the interface Inventor exposes to add-ins, and to read and set the parameters and iProperties your iLogic rules already use.
The CADMCP.AI Agent runs on the Windows PC where Inventor is installed, next to a small Inventor add-in that shows each change for approval.
The AI proposes. A person approves. Then it runs.
Your AI app can read, measure and plan. Anything that would change your model becomes a request that shows the exact change. It runs only after a person approves it inside the CAD program, and you can always decline.
Your tools, your licences
- Autodesk Inventor installed and licensed on your Windows PC
- Your own AI app: Claude (Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise) or OpenAI Codex. AI usage is billed to your own AI plan.
- A CADMCP.AI account. Early access is free.
Your model stays yours
Your CAD files stay on your computer. Requests and tool results pass through our server on their way to your AI app, and we do not train AI models on them.
